Legendary rock star, Bryan Adams, plants with Taking Root

The Taking Root team became Bryan Adams’ number one fan after the Canadian singer songwriter teamed up with DHL to plant over a million trees this year.

Taking Root was selected as one of the organizations who are growing trees for the initiative. The forests funded by DHL and Bryan Adams are helping Taking Root to work with over 50 farming families in the regions of Murra, Jalapa, Yali and Somoto to build sustainable livelihoods through financial incentives and local forest enterprises.

It turns out the Taking Root team in Nicaragua are no stranger to Bryan Adams. On hearing the news that the Canadian rock star was supporting Taking Root, they decided to create their own tribute to the musician. Check out their very own reforestation version of the classic, (Everything I do) I do it for you below.

Bryan Adams said of the project, “I hope more artists will consider this kind of eco-partnership in the future, I’m proud to be part of this initiative,”. He is one of a number of musicians increasingly supporting environmental causes, following the footsteps of other Canadian artists such as Quebec’s Les Cowboys Fringants who have used their platform to promote the values of biodiversity and plant hundreds of thousands of trees in Montreal.

Having partnered with Bryan Adams for his “Shine a Light Tour” to mark their 50th anniversary, DHL are one of a number of companies recognizing the need to increase support for reforestation around the world in order to tackle climate change. Alongside DHL, Shopify, Amazon and Shell have all pledged $1 million annually, $100 million and $300 million respectively to support reforestation initiatives this year. We hope this is just the beginning of companies’ efforts to drastically reduce their impact and invest in initiatives which protect the natural world and mitigate climate change.

Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post DHl Group said “through the tree planting campaign with Bryan Adams, we can further strengthen global ecosystems in the long term and thus contribute to biodiversity and species conservation”. “Reforestation is proven to be one of the most sustainable and efficient carbon capture methods,” he adds. “Through our Mission 2050, we have also made it our goal to reduce all logistics-related emissions to net zero by 2050. By increasing the carbon efficiency of our operations, reducing emissions of local air pollutants and offering our customers green products and solutions, we aim to sustainably improve the lives of people around the world”.
